Hydrogen Wave :
A New Wave for Hydrogen Society
Hydrogen for Everyone, Everything, Everywhere
Watch the Full event
Climate change has become a reality and a serious threat all around the world.
Hyundai Motor Group proposes hydrogen as an energy solution for a clean and sustainable environment.
Let’s explore Hyundai Motor Group’s future hydrogen vision, along with its hydrogen mobility concept to achieve this, and the next generation fuel cell system.
The hydrogen wave for earth and humanity has already begun.
Hydrogen Vision – Opening
Hyundai Motor Group’s solution to combating climate change is to encourage a shift in the energy paradigm to hydrogen.
Over the past 20 years, Hyundai Motor Group has devoted significant resources and talent to developing hydrogen-based technologies.
As a result of these long-term efforts, our hydrogen passenger and commercial vehicles are already in use around the world,
helping to popularize hydrogen energy. Then, what does Hyundai Motor Group’s vision for a future hydrogen society look like?
The Group’s goal is to make hydrogen readily available for “Everyone, Everything, and Everywhere.”
With these breakthroughs, we aim to help foster a worldwide hydrogen society by 2040.
Hyundai Motor Group anticipated the future potential of hydrogen fuel cells at an early stage.
Hyundai started to develop a hydrogen fuel cell car in 1998, and Tucson FCEV was released in February 2013,
opening the door to the mass production of fuel cell EVs. Then, in 2018, it released the next-generation hydrogen fuel cell SUV, NEXO.
It has also released the world’s first mass-produced hydrogen electric truck, XCIENT Fuel Cell,
and is now developing a tractor based on the XCIENT Fuel Cell that’s set for release in 2024.
But we didn’t stop there. With Vision FK, a hydrogen hybrid sports car prototype,
We proved that hydrogen fuel cells can be applied to high performance vehicles as well.
We plan to apply the fuel cells to a wide range of forms of mobility, such as trams, rescue drones, and UAM.
Fuel Cell system & Technology
The core competitiveness of fuel cell technology is comprised of cost and durability.
Hyundai Motor Group plans to overcome obstacles to achieving this with the technology we have accumulated over the years.
We have been able to reduce fuel cell costs by nearly 98% since 2003. Durability is also expected to meet the industry standard in the near future.
At the heart of these expectations is the third-generation fuel cell system that Hyundai Motor Group is currently developing.
Some people say that replacing conventional power systems with fuel cell is easy, but they are wrong.
Other people say it’s impossible, but they are also wrong. It’s very challenging, demanding us to exert unprecedented efforts,
but we’re confident that it’s possible and we will pave the way for the global hydrogen economy with our fuel cells powered by HTWO.
TRAILER DRONE, e-bogie
Hyundai Motor Group is well positioned to lead this change with a broad business portfolio from automobiles to steel, construction, and trains.
We are ideally equipped to deploy and rapidly scale innovative technologies.
The company’s fuel cell e-Bogie is the product of a wealth of its accumulated know-how.
The entire fuel cell system is encased in the dedicated chassis, and it helps minimize the turning radius or slide sideways into a tight spot.
Logistical efficiency is further enhanced by the Cluster Mode. It is a true multi-purpose platform that can be adapted to an even wider value chain:
container transportation, port logistics, airport operation, construction, and fire and rescue.
We will realize hydrogen mobility that will accelerate human progress, and Hyundai’s innovative design approach will be the key to this transformation.
Hydrogen Vision – Closing
We sincerely want to offer a practical solution for the sustainable development of humanity and our planet.
In the meantime, the degree and frequency of environmental disasters is rising fast. Global experts said that we now face “code red for humanity.”
Global cooperation is crucial and urgent. This may be the last train to a hydrogen society.
There’s no question that hydrogen is one of the most powerful and pragmatic solutions for overcoming environmental challenges.
As a responsible member of the global community, Hyundai Motor Group will strive to advance the hydrogen society.
The “Hydrogen Wave” has already started to swell. We welcome all of you to ride this “Wave of Innovation” to the shore of a new energy paradigm.
